Sideritis herba or Çaj / Sicilian Stregonia / the Shepherd's Tea is a plant where we use the flower part of it. It is yellowish and dry to the touch. Its properties and its sweet smell and taste derive from the high presence of tannins and bitter substances. It was used as a miracle plant as it cured all ills. Its use for hundreds of years has made it a plant without side effects and consequently the use of it should also be recommended for children. The latter also due to the absence of theine. It is recommended as antioxidants, tonic, expectorant (in case of colds and respiratory problems), anti-stress and anti-anxiety.
It is prepared by adding a tablespoon of dried and chopped herb to a cup of boiling water for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally. If, on the other hand, you have the bush part, bring it to a boil with boiling water for a couple of minutes and then let it rest for 15-20 minutes. To sweeten depending on the pleasure. It is recommended three to four times a day or to be carried in the thermos as it does not degrade. The same for children where I recommend it on breakfast with the addition of a slice of white cheese.
Dandelion
It is a plant from which we use the root instead in the kitchen the part of the leaves. Its dried roots should are used as diuretic and good cholagogue as well as laxatives and antioxidants. They are rich in ocsiphenylacetic acid and diocycinamic acid, choline, taraksastirol and omotaraksastitol alkaloids, pottassium salts, wax, bitter substances of taracsacin. It is recommended in case of renal and hepatic insufficiency even in cases of pain due to the presence of salts, decreasing pain and relieving symptoms. Obviously, nothing goes to replace medical care and advice. Lately it is founded in almost all slimming products as it improves the appearance for cellulite anesthetics because it reduces cholesterol.
Prepare a decoction by adding a tablespoon of dried and small pieces of root on 2 cups (mug) of boiling water and bring to the boil for 15 minutes. It is recommended as the Çaj.
